What are cookies and browser storage?
Cookies and similar browser storage (such as localStorage) are small pieces of data that a website saves in your browser. Many countries, among them the EU member states and the UK, require consent before a website stores or reads information on your device, unless an exception applies, for example for storage that is strictly necessary for something you asked for. The Ideal Vibe website (the “Website”) stores only the items listed below, which remember a choice you made or support a step you asked for; we treat them as strictly necessary.
This policy covers the Ideal Vibe website (idealvibe.app). The Ideal Vibe mobile app is covered by our Privacy Policy.
What this website stores
The Website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising technology. It keeps up to two items in your browser's local storage:
idealVibeLang is saved only when you choose a language from the language menu, and idealVibeTheme only when you press the theme button. idealVibeLang holds a two-letter language code (for example “en”) and idealVibeTheme holds “light” or “dark”. Both are read only by the Website, in your browser, and are not sent to us or to anyone else. Neither has an expiry date: they stay until you remove them (see “Managing browser storage” below).
One page keeps a third item. The password-reset page, which opens from a link in an email from us, saves an item called ivResetForward in your browser's session storage. The page passes the link from an account email from us (for example a password-reset or email-verification link) on to the page that completes the request, and the item notes for five minutes that this tab has already done so, so that the page does not send you round in a loop. It holds the time, the length of the one-time code in the link and its last characters, not the whole code. It is strictly necessary for the step you asked for, it is not sent to us or to anyone else, and your browser removes it when you close the tab.
The pages that open from our emails (password reset and newsletter confirmation) are part of the Website and store nothing else in your browser. A password reset is completed on a Google Firebase Authentication page. That page belongs to Google and is not covered by this policy; see Section 5 (Our Website) of our Privacy Policy.
Managing browser storage
Because these items are strictly necessary, we do not ask for consent and there are no preferences to set. You can remove them at any time by clearing the site data for idealvibe.app in your browser settings. The Website will then choose a language based on your browser settings and follow your device's light or dark theme.
Third parties and the mobile app
The Website loads no content from third-party servers: fonts and images are served from our own servers, and pages are delivered by our hosting provider as described in our Privacy Policy.
The Ideal Vibe mobile app (the “App”) is different. It uses software from Google and other providers that can store information on your device or read information from it. Our Privacy Policy names these providers and explains what they receive and why (Section 6, Sharing Your Information, and Section 11, Advertising).
Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase), crash reports (Crashlytics), performance monitoring and personalised advertising (Google AdMob) follow the privacy settings in the App. The starting values depend on the country you are in. You can change the settings in the App under Profile > Privacy & legal > Privacy Controls. Ads that are not personalised are still shown in the free version of the App whatever these settings say; where Google's ad-consent form applies to you, no ad is requested until you have answered it. In a region where the App runs in restricted mode, these services are switched off and cannot be turned on. Where Google's ad-consent form applies to you, the same screen shows “Manage ad consent”, which opens the form again. On an iPhone or iPad the same screen shows “App tracking”, which opens the App's page in your device settings, where you can change the tracking permission once the App has asked for it. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings.
Other services in the App, for example in-app purchases, app configuration, app integrity checks and sign-in, are not controlled by those settings. The Privacy Policy describes them.
For how Google uses information from apps that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy, for example if we add features that store more data. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows the most recent revision. We will ask for your consent before using any storage that is not strictly necessary.
